Abstract

This study explores the integration of traditional woodcarving panels in contemporary architecture to enhance natural ventilation and thermal comfort. Focusing on Johor, Malay-sia, the research utilises Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations to evaluate the impact of woodcarving designs on airflow and indoor environment quality. The analysis centres on woodcarving ventilation panels, which serve the dual purpose of improving air circulation and maintaining aesthetic appeal. The results highlight the potential of combining traditional craftsmanship with modern architectural approaches to create sustainable and culturally relevant building solutions; this research offers valuable insights into how traditional elements can be adapted to contemporary designs to promote functionality and cultural heritage in building practices.
